On 25 March 2011 in Hotel D’Plaza Scientific-research center “Radix” and Colgate-Palmolive Georgia organized with support of GSA, Georgian Gynecologist’s Association and company “Similia Pharm” the conference: “Oral diseases prevention in pregnant women”.
About 200 dentists and gynecologists attended the conference. The opening greeting speeches were held by president of “RADIX” Zurab Alkhanishvili and representative of Colgate-Palmolive Ketevan Chkheidze. Prof. Menabde discussed in his speech the need of collaboration between dentists and other medical professionals.
First lecture was presented by Prof. V. Margvelashvili: “Oral diseases prevention in pregnant women”. The objectives of lecture were the pathologies and bad habits, which have influence on oral health of pregnant women and can cause dental diseases. Prof. Margvelashvili mentioned, that certain dental diseases contain risks not only for the woman’s oral and general health but also for the health of child.

Associated professor Sophio Samkharadze reviewed the Colgate oral hygiene products.gilashvili talked about oral manifestations of hormonal changes. Based on clinical evidence she gave some useful recommendations to dentists and gynecologists.
Tea Chanadiri MD PhD held the lecture: “Pheto-placentar deficiency – oral cavity infection and hypoxia of fetus “. In lecture were presented the innovations of modern gynecology, the need of collaboration between gynecologists and dentists was underlined.
The conference closing speech was held by head of Parent’s School of Chachava Clinic – Maka Chikovani. Dr. Chikovani talked about dental problems during pregnancy.
